As part of our “matchup-based” data-points, we decided to dive into how each DB performed last season based on the route they faced. We came across some interesting pieces of information:
Points saved per play based on route type faced for CB/S. The numbers in the table below represent their rank among their peers, 1 being the best DB vs that particular route.
If curious, this is what the league-wide average looked like (in terms of points saved by route, where a positive number here is “good” for the defense):
Pt.s Saved/Play | out | curl | slant | comeback | dig | corner | post | go/fade |
AVG. | 0.07 | 0.05 | 0.21 | 0.00 | -0.01 | 0.00 | 0.17 | -0.18 |
Thanks to our friends at SIS for the data.
